I am looking for any help with plating questions on a main connecting rod bearing. The base material is BrS-30 GOST (Russian Alloy). Is it acceptable to plate over this material with copper and then lead?

Need more details. Guessing you're referring to the bearing shell itself? What engine application?

My second degree is in materials technology and I really enjoyed metallurgy. I would contact someone in the classic car engine renovation business and ask them about casting Babbitt metal. (these white metal bearings have to be cast then scraped in) I don't have it handy, but I think there is a mention of how they recast bearings in a twenties aircraft engine in the DH9 restoration book I mentioned in the book forum page.
