According to Dan Whitney's Vee's for Victory, a total of 157 were shipped, with the lion's share going to P-75s. _________________ Kimble D. McCutcheon |

Does anyone remember a story/article about a guy into tractor pulling competitions that found a warehouse full of these Allison engines? |

Bill, you are probably thinking of E.J. Potter. He purchased huge numbers of Allisons for tractor pulling and drag racing. When the Hunt Bros. tried to corner the silver market in the late '70s E.J. melted down 55 gallon barrels full of bearings to reclaim the silver. Kermit Weeks purchased what was left of E.J.s collection a number of years ago. I saw them when they were stored in a warehouse in Tamiami - hundreds still in original shipping crates stored floor to ceiling. This is still probably the largest collection of Allisons anywhere. Included in E.J.s stash were a number of 3420s, I believe Kermit now has 5.
Bud Wheeler probaly has the next largest collection of Allison material. |
