In the presentations of the 2017 AEHS Convention, are the first pictures of the Allison V-1710 airship application that I’ve seen. Thanks!
Now, I really wonder which manufacturer supplied the carburetors, and what their configuration was. I looked through AEHS material on line and came up short. Does anyone here know? |

John Leonard responded with the following:
I have a report titled "Development Test of Allison V-1710-4 Engine in Accordance with Navy Specification E-4G 150 Hour Endurance Test" written by the Allison Engineering Company and dated September 10, 1934. It says the carburetors were a Type NA-Y6E made by the Bendix Stromberg Carburetor Co.
I have attached two photos of the V-1710B. Perhaps the most noticeable difference is in the propeller shaft. I believe that the splined shaft version is an earlier engine, because it was tested on a test stand with a propeller. But there are also differences in the carburetors, so, I am guessing, all carburetors may not have had the same model number.

Thanks, Kimble. And when I googled “NA-Y6Eâ€, I was lead right back to AEHS! They were big two-barrels. |
