I recently obtained some photos of Otto Timm's 1918 trainer. This was a one off which was not developed after WWI. He built his own engine for this aircraft. From the photos you can see it has two exhaust ports per cylinder facing forward with no exhaust manifold. Does any have any other photos or information on this engine? Here's a link to the photo I have,

Engine appears to be 2 rows of 3, (4 stroke?) crankcase looks Anzani, cylinders from Le Rhone rotary but 2 push rods! prop hub Curtiss OX it appears!
Le Rhone rotary engines mfg'ed in USA Union Switch WW-1! the Anzani manufactured many two row 6 cyl. engine models but with cast iron cylinders.
Only unusual thing is the 2 exhaust valves it appears, where the intake pipe would have been bolted to, when the cylinders were rotated to face fwd! |
