The SAE has published a book called Opposed Piston Engines, Evolution, Use, and Future Applications, ISBN: 978-0-7680-1800-4
at the considerable price of 90 US dollars. However, on the website, apparently you can buy individual chapters as an e-book for 18 US dollars. (members get a discount) Chapter 3 is called Aeronautical Opposed Piston Engines. Has anyone seen this book or read this chapter? |

I got the book and think that it is very good.
At 563 pages it is substantial but it thoroughly covers the development of opposed piston engines in all fileds, automotive, aviation, marine and stationary with rather well reproduced pictures and a well structured bibliography at the end of each chapter.
The aviation chapter is nice and could be bought by itself if short on cash, but the rest is still very interesting and worth the full price. |

Thank you. I've been disappointed with a number of recent SAE books, and wanted to check before buying the complete book. |
