Big ask ,I know,but if you dont....etc.

Hello,

The chap to ask will probably be Bob Neal. I expect he will see your enquiry in due course.
There is a Ministry of Munitions illustrated parts list but the drawings are exploded views not dimentioned plans.
There is also a 1918 Ministry handbook which it must be said is better illustrated than the 'original' Signal Corps handbook and this does have a number of partially dimentioned arrangement drawings at the back, including sections. A couple of the same sections appear (larger and sharper) in the July 1919 copy of 'The Automobile Engineer'.
Do you have access to a Liberty to examine ?

Looking forward to hearing more of your project !
All the best,
Jamie.

As one of the manufacturers of the Liberty engine, the Ford Motor Company archives should have a complete set of production drawings with changes in their engineering section.

Forgot to mention the Royal Aircraft Establishment collection of aircraft and engine 'tracings' held at the National Records Office at Kew in London.
The 1966 RAE catalogue lists, under Liberty;
Drg No. AB 6399 - transverse section through timing gears
AB 6405 - transverse section through cylinders
AB 3111 - installation drawing

Other Liberty drawings are listed under supercharger and turbo supercharger installations.
If you can make the time, I am told that much the best way is to book a visit, check the individual drawings and then decide which are worth having copied otherwise much expense and disappointment may result.

Thanks Jamie,
The "project" is not mine, but as I have an interest in these historic motors I am making inquiries on behalf of a friend who aims to construct a smaller Liberty if/when he gets suffice details or parts to measure.
Your suggestions and refs to drawings are most helpful and gratefully received.I have/will forward them all.
Happy New Year

Brian
