Check out:-

This one may work. Don't know if it also attempts to download spyware.

Thanks for the link.
This engine reminds me, in concept at least, of the Rolls-Royce Crecy. True, the Crecy was a spark ignition, sleeve-valve two-stroke, but it too relied on uniflow scavenging (what LIM calls ventilation), albeit in the opposite direction (Crecy intake ports were at the bottom; exhaust at the top). The Crecy was capable of almost unbelievable specific power, and if one can believe the people who were involved in it’s development, was capable of even more astonishing power, had development proceeded.
The engineer in me wants to quickly discount obvious advantage and try to find the problems. I am skeptical of the valves. I see nothing about them that is fundamentally different from any previous automatic valve, which also makes them prone to the same rpm limitations, resonance, and breathing faults of their ancestors. I also wonder about failure modes, particularly toleration of leakage and foreign object ingestion.
The real limitation of such engines is nearly always piston cooling. The Crecy had piston cooling troubles, as have many other very high performance two-strokes. At least this one has a sealed crankcase that lends itself to prodigious oil flow to the undersides of the piston crowns.
The LIM engine will be an interesting one to follow. _________________ Kimble D. McCutcheon |

The link in this post is now defunct. I recommend not checking it anymore as the domain name seems to go to a site that wants to download spyware.
Sorry about that guys, it was fine when first posted. |

Spybot (same software that found it before) reckons it's OK. |
