|
|
Final Chapters in my J34 book underway. I need the BuAer contract number for the development and construction of the J34-WE-46/48 models. The -48 was a reengineered version of the -46 and the -48 was used in the first version of the North American T2J-1 Buckeye trainer.
The contract number would be on the data plate of one of the engines, but so far not having any luck finding an engine anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated.
Update 1/23/2024 - I now have the F2J-1 airframe contract numbers courtesy of Steve Ginter but the search for the engine contract identification goes on.
Update 2/16/2024 - I found the -46/-48 BuAer engine contract number on the back of a piece of non-classified airframe correspondence in the National Archives. Only part of the contract actually made it to Archives. Sigh.
Update 4/12/2024 - The contract number found was only for the -46 (still a step forward). Much later in yet another non-classified document, I found WAGT referring to the -48 production contract and they included the number!
This update closes out this request for assistance.
My thanks for everyone who read my request for help.
