I am the current custodian of a Franklin 805-5. Is there any information on Air Corps AC=41-50466 or Contract number 535AC 1978 4? These numbers are from the data plate in this engine.

Unfortunately, there is little more information based on the contract and serial numbers. We know from the serial number that it was a FY 1941 Air Corps purchase, and that it was provided under the contract number listed. Presumably the contract was between Franklin and the Government. We are not aware that any Franklin serial number data survives, nor are there Air Corps serial number listings.

Thanks for your response, Kimble. I found this club while researching the engine and have availed my self of so copies of the Torque Meter publication, it is impressive.

The engine is complete with two carburetors supercharger magnetos and a starter motor. and is looks overpowering between my Auburn 12 and the Packard 12.
