Does anyone have a handle on locating the long springs for the Douglas A-26 collector exhausts? In operation, they break all the time, so I'm sure there are manufactures out there providing replacements. The collectors clamp to the front and rear cylinder's and the springs provide a third leg to the proverbial stool, to stabilize the mounting. If I can't locate someone willing to part with the springs(i.e. NOS, 10 count/box), I would like to acquire a broken spring, or the specs, and have them made locally. Aerotrader at Chino in so Cal and Anderson in Idaho couldn't help. I have been checking with A-26 operator's like Palm Springs and Week Museums, but getting through to the knowledgeable parties has been a challenge.

I worked for Premier Jets in Hillsboro, Oregon. They had 2 A26’s at one time. One was disassembled and shipped to Taiwan in exchange for F5’s. One A26 may still be around Hillboro or Corvallis airports. The A26 is probably flying little or at all. Premier Jets DOM is Doug Donkel and he may be able to provide a spring off of theirs to duplicate. I told him you may call.
