Mike,
I identified it as a Lamabert 90, which I believe was a later instantiation of the Velie M-5. How does one tell the difference? _________________ Kimble D. McCutcheon |

Kim,
Best I can tell, Lambert Aircraft Engine company took over production of the Velie M-5. I'm not certain what, if any, improvements or changes the Lambert company made but my guess is not much. Probably the only way to tell the difference would be through examination of the data plate.
Also of note is that the Velie M-5 was an "improved" version of the Detroit Aircraft Engine Company's Aircat engine. Apparently they were so similar, Velie was sued on copyright infringements and had to pay damages. _________________ Mike Smith |
