|
I count at least 46 aircraft propelled by coaxial, contra-rotating propellers, not including a half dozen propfans. I'm interested in learning and sharing how this technology was executed. I'm about 2/3 the way through with understanding the mechanisms but only 50% successful in acquiring model kits of the aircraft themselves.
Any information of leads on where to find information on the Curtiss Electric (XFY-1, XP-56), Hamilton-Standard Superhydromatic (XB-35, XF-11, XTB2D-1), or Stupino (AN-22, Tu-114, Tu-95) propellers would be greatly appreciated. Leads on model kits that I don't have ("X" means I have a kit) would also be appreciated.
Thanks to all. Hope to hear from you.

Hello Tom,
Have you seen this thread? You might need to be registered to see pictures and download attachments. http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/aircraft-picture-requests/aircraft-contrarotating-props-17501.html
Also are you interested in Contra-Prop experiments? There was a P-47 and a F4U that were tested with contra-props, a Griffon powered Sea Fury, and the Napier Nomad test-bed Lincoln. There is another obscure one that I ran across the other day but I can't recall what it was at the moment.
I will look around and see what I have and email you.
I hope you will share you findings with us! _________________ Bill Pearce

Bill, right you are, thanks. The link and list are appreciated. I forgot about the Nomad Lincoln. I've seen one pic each of the razorback P-47 (Curtiss props) and XF4U (Aeroprops), so yep, on the list they go.
They'll be an article soon on the website.
