Hello,
Can someone point me to a reference for the Merlin 500-600-700 series engines?
I'm going to be flying the "Vintage Wings of Canada" Hurricane Mark IV in 2011, and it has a 500 engine.
I'd like to know more about it -- my practice when checking out on a new vintage aircraft is to start with the engine.
I've put together a thick file of reference material for the standard marks of the Merlin, but 500 data seems hard to come by.
Thanks,
Dave |

Dave,
I own a 500-29 engine which I believe is the same engine installing in the VWC Hurry.
A good general manual on the single stage engine is TSD293. Readily available on the web.
You are welcome to PM me for more information and operational points.
Regards,
David. |

Thanks!
I posted this query on the WIX forum, and got a reply which laid out the entire 500-700 nomenclature. Apparently these numbers were for engines that were customized for individual airlines.
