The Napier Lion VII D was installed in the Gloster VI N250 Schneider Trophy float plane in 1929. All model parts were made by hand as masters, then moulds made from them. The parts were then reproduced in cast resin. This was necessary as besides this aircraft replica, two further engines are required for a future model of the Railton Mobil Special LSR car of John Cobb. Size 00-90 brass nuts and bolts were cut down into studs and nuts, then plated before installing. A total of 308 studs and nuts were required to complete the model. The levers at the rear of the supercharger were a bit of a pig to make as they were carved from aluminum sheet. |

10 Oct 2015: I have just completed my latest, which is a model of Whittle’s very first WU engine. I was years and years searching for info on this but it seems there is so little out there. I finally bit the bullet and put together what I had and built my interpretation of it. | ||||||
