In this second article we deal with the sub-contracted fabrication, to de Havilland design, of two specialized components, i.e., the pistons by Specialloid, Ltd., and the crankshaft by English Steel Corporation, Ltd. Also, there is a description of the machining of the connecting rods by the de Havilland Aircraft Co., Ltd. The concluding installment will deal with the production of the camshaft and top cover, and also outline the various stages of final engine assembly and testing.
