| This paper describes how the Royal Aircraft Establishment and the Army Air Service at McCook Field influenced air-cooled engine design during the decade after the First World War. The Wright J-5 and the Pratt & Whitney Wasp, engines that made long-distance air travel practical, grew out of this work. |
