Torque Master engines are built from specially-chosen Volkswagen auto engine parts to aircraft engines by a conversion developed and sold by Airdrome Aeroplanes of Holden, Missouri. Robert Baslee is the founder of the firm, which also sells kits for full- and reduced-scale replicas of popular World War I aircraft. Torque Master also has developed a toothed-belt propeller speed reduction unit (PSRU) that utilizes Goodyear Eagle belts and weighs 11#. Their engines are sold as direct drive or with the PSRU.
