Sub4 engines are converted from Subaru automobile engines and are built and marketed by Sub4 Aeromotive, Ltd. of Hamilton, New Zealand. Their products, which are described on the Sub4 Website, include EA-81 conversions, aftermarket Subaru engine parts, and gearbox Propeller Speed Reduction Units (PSRU's) for the EJ-20, EJ-22, EJ-25, EG-33, and EZ-30 (H6) series of Subaru engines. All of these engines are non-certificated engines for use in experimental, homebuilt aircraft.

Liquid-cooled, dual-carburetor, dual-ignition engine geared to 0.455 or 0.556 by a Sub4 gearbox PSRU. The PSRU can be mounted with its propeller drive above or below the crankshaft centerline. Engine has many new Sub4 components, including a camshaft designed to optimize performance for aircraft use. This version can be retrofitted to Sub4 125hp specifications.
