Wiktor N. Narkiewicz designed several HOAE and radial engines in Poland after WWII. His earliest HOAE, the WN-1, was designed in 1947-1948 and was built in small numbers by the PZL organization as the PZL-65KM. Later Narkiewicz engines were produced in larger quantitites by the Osrodek Konstrukcji Lotniczy (Aircraft Construction Center), abbreviated as OKL, which was founded in 1957 at Warsaw-Okecie.
