The Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft of Stuttgart, Germany built many famous aircraft engines, mostly under the brand name of Mercedes engines from before WWI through WWII. Gottlieb Daimler founded the company in 1890. In 1926, Daimler merged with Benz & Cie of Mannheim, which had been founded in 1885, to form Daimler-Benz Aktiengesellschaft. The following two HOAE were developed after World War I and the latter was built into the 1930s.
