Établissements Pierre Mengin of France began building Mengin engines for light aircraft in 1933. The O-76 and O-95 listed below were designed by René Poinsard and are best known as Poinsard engines. The O-116 was designed by Genete, Mengin, and Hochet, hence the G.M.H. designation. Later (Ae41), the firm was listed as Hochet-Mengin for the O-245.
