Jacobs (US)

Fischer and Jacobs began operations in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1927 and moved soon to Camden, New Jersey as the Aircraft Engine Corp. It became the Jacobs Aircraft Engine Co. somewhat later and moved to Pottstown, Pennsylvania. After WWII, they were a division of Republic Industries, Inc. [not Republic Aircraft] (AY46). The company is best known for its radial engines, but an early development was the two-stroke cycle, two-cylinder Model B-1 described below, which saw limited use. For the post-WWII industry, they developed the four-stroke cycle HOAE designs described here.

Air- and liquid-cooled versions were built and tested, but only the air-cooled version was marketed; fuel injection was optional. Jacobs used the O-240EG liquid-cooled version in its JH-25 electrical generator set for ground or marine use (AY52).
