The Ford Motor Co. of Detroit, Michigan was once very active in aviation. The only Ford aircraft engine designed by them is described below. This engine was not manufactured in quantity. Many other Ford automobile engines of different configurations have been modified for use in light aircraft, from the late 1920's to the present. Moreover, Ford produced other companies' engine designs during WWII.
