Roy Fedden, Ltd. of Stoke Orchard, near Cheltenham, Glos., United Kingdom was formed by Sir Roy Fedden in 1945. Fedden had been the chief engine designer of the Bristol Aeroplane Co. for many years, see Bristol. The HOAE described here was designed for completely submerged mounting inside the wings of multi-engine aircraft. This is the same concept that led to development of the Continental O-1430 and Lycoming O-1230 12-cylinder HOAEs for the U.S. Army and for development of the French Potez OL-915 and O-1080 12-cylinder HOAEs. The Fedden firm also developed a 1350hp turboprop engine.
