Jack Erickson is a retired aerospace engineer who worked mostly in aerodynamics and adaptive-wall wind tunnels. His interest in the history of aircraft began in his childhood days during WWII. Piston aircraft engines, especially those of the horizontally-opposed configuration, are a more recent historical activity. This effort arose from a curiosity about the role of these engines in the continuing development of light and general-aviation aircraft. Jack is a retired member of both the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Helicopter Society (AHS). He is a member of the American Aviation Historical Society (AAHS), the Aircraft Engine Historical Society (AEHS), the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the Vintage Aircraft Association, a Division of EAA.
