AeroPrag engines were built from 1998 to about 2003. The AlfaPrag firm under the direction of Petr Tomášek has built engines from about 2003 to the present time. The detailed histories of the two companies are unavailable to the compiler. Both firms are located, presumably, in Prague, Czech Republic. There exist a Website in the Czech language for AeroPrag and the AlfaPrag Website in Czech and English.
The Tatra automobile company built both aircraft and aircraft engines before WWII. More recently (1986-1992), Aerotechnik Tatra in Kunovice, Czechoslovakia built an HOAE that looks like a VW engine conversion. The sparse information that the compiler has found on all three firms and their HOAE is listed in the compilation below. The compiler does not know with certainty what, if any, relationships exist among the engines of the three firms. Little further information found, but the power output is about the same as that for the AP-45. However, the AlfaPrag Website mentions that the Tp422 has single overhead camshafts on each bank of cylinders, so it must be quite different from a VW conversion.
