SAFRAN Aircraft Engines (previously Snecma) is a French supplier of commercial and military gas turbine and rocket engines. It developed the Snecma M88, an afterburning turbofan used in the Dassault Rafale. Snecma participated in design and production of the Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 afterburing turbojet that powered the Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde, and partnered with General Electric to form CFM International and produce the CFM56 turbofan for airline power. Snecma also developed the Vulcan rocket engine series, which poweres the Ariane 5 and 6 launch vehicles.

Snecma was formed in 1945 when the French Gnome & Rhône aircraft engine manufacturer was nationalized. Snecma was an acronym for Société nationale d'études et de construction de moteurs d'aviation (National Society of Research and Construction of Aviation Engines).
