Attached are images of some data plates from Koch's collection. All but the Drone Engine plates are available for sale or trade.
At one time Koch had over nine pounds of engine data plates, which had been gathered from all over the world. Many had interesting stories attached to them. For example, the Chinese engine plate came off an aircraft that came down in Angola but was acquired in South Africa.
Many companies control the acquisition to these plates to help curb insurance fraud and other misuse.
Also of interest, P&WA from just 1955 to 1985, a 30 year span, had over 27 different engine data plate variations; not the engines—just the data plates. This does not take into account the number of different sub-data plates that go on modules which make up a total engine assembly.
